This worldwide successful TV series features action star Chuck Norris as Cordell Walker, a half-Native American ranger, a man of the law with high moral values. The show achieved camp appeal for its martial arts scenes combined with the Western genre. The series is set in modern-day Dallas, Texas, with 5 permanent sets and 3 to 6 additional non-permanent sets on stage per episode. Both, the studio as well as the on-location sets had to meet a multitude of special-effects requirements. Each season two 90-minute specials were created, some showing Walker’s past. These specials required elaborate historical sets built on location in Colorado or New Mexico and on stage in Dallas. Each regular episode of 45 minutes took seven days of shooting and seven days of prep time that ran parallel to each other. Other than the many literary adaptations she had done before, Peichl’s work on "Walker, Texas Ranger" required her to create distinctive aesthetics while always conforming to the conditions of an American TV production, i.e. a stringent schedule, an exact budget, and technical demands.
