Thomas Kretschmann made his debut in ”Der Mitwisser” playing a 17-year-old boy charged with murder. The boy flees with his father to the South of France, where they deal intensively with the issues of guilt and forgiveness. Kretschmann won the Max-Ophüls-Preis in 1990 for his work in this stirring drama. "Der Mitwisser" also marked Uli Neulinger’s directorial debut.
